"I have a strong belief that representing local communities is increasingly important and that people who can listen and advocate for what is right for the community are needed more than ever"

PIPPA IS:

  • passionate about improving Weybridge

  • focused on local concerns, as they affect our daily lives

  • committed to represent your view and what is important to you

  • determined to get results in your best interests - never giving up!

  • bringing strong business experience to the role of EBC councillor

  • an active member of the community

  • an energetic and committed councillor - representing all residents and local interests

PIPPA'S PRIORITIES:

I’ve been listening to many residents across the ward, and while there’s a wide range of views and concerns, a few key themes come up again and again. These are the issues I’m determined to tackle head-on.

STRATEGY FOR OUR ROADS:

  • We all know that traffic and transport are at the heart of daily frustration in Weybridge. As your councillor I’m pushing Surrey County Council to take a smarter, more strategic approach to road management and quality.

  • Increasing traffic on an unchanged road network only leads to congestion, pollution, and frayed tempers. We need joined up thinking, not tinkering at the edges. That means investing in better layouts, smarter junction controls, and a clear long-term plan to get Weybridge moving safely and efficiently.

  • One clear example is the roundabout and junction leading into Weybridge Station, which needs a proper, permanent solution.

  • Traffic calming measures also need to be extended into more of our residential side roads, to protect both safety and quality of life.

  • Roadworks must be better coordinated, so that essential maintenance doesn’t create unnecessary gridlock.

  • Now that the 18-tonne HGV ban through the town has been implemented — including on Church Street, Heath Road, and Brooklands Road — it’s good to see the new ANPR enforcement camera installed at the Brooklands Road / Wellington Way roundabout. We’ll continue to monitor the impact on HGV traffic to make sure these improvements are delivering real benefits for residents.

WEYBRIDGE HEALTH CENTRE

  • After 8 years of uncertainty planning approval for the replacement of the Weybridge Health Centre has been submitted by the NHS and approval has been granted .  This is a positive step forward and gives real grounds for optimism that this long awaited, essential facility is at last becoming a reality.  However, optimism alone won’t deliver it. The building work must not be allowed to drift, and the NHS must secure the necessary funding without further delay.

  • Over the past two years, I’ve been working closely with our newly combined GP practices as an active member of the Patient Participation Group (PPG), championing improved processes and better communication for all patients.

FAMILIES

  • I’m proud that we actively supported the construction of the new eco-friendly splash pad in Churchfields Recreation Ground which is a brilliant example of how local projects can bring joy to children and families, while also respecting our environment.

  • But there’s more to do.  We need to make it easier for everyone to walk or cycle to school and around the town. Safer roads, well maintained cycle paths and improved crossing points are essential and I’ll keep pushing for those practical improvements that make Weybridge a friendlier, more family-oriented town.

  • We also need a stronger focus on making life easier and safer for parents and carers taking children to nursery and school - ideally by walking or cycling.  When this is not practically possible,  better parking, safer drop-off zones, and clearer collection arrangements would make a real difference.

OUR HIGH STREET

  • A thriving town centre is the beating heart of our community. We supported the newly created Weybridge BID (Business Improvement District), an exciting initiative that will help bring fresh energy, investment, and activity to our High Street.

  • The BID's work will strengthen Weybridge as a vibrant focal point for residents, visitors, and local businesses alike. With a joined-up approach, we can make our town centre more welcoming, attractive, and resilient for the future.

OVER DEVELOPMENT

  • Weybridge needs good quality homes that meet local needs, not development imposed from above without regard for our infrastructure or environment.

  • I will continue to promote responsible, well planned housing that genuinely benefits our community while protecting the Green Belt and the character of our town.

  • Any new development must be matched by investment in roads, healthcare, schools, and other essential services. Growth only works when it’s sustainable, and I’ll keep pushing to make sure every planning decision reflects that.

THE ENVIRONMENT  â€‹

  • Creating a cleaner, greener Weybridge is essential for our health today and for the generations to come. We must act with urgency to reduce air pollution, champion green initiatives, and push for the infrastructure needed to support electric vehicles.

  • We must also protect and enhance our parks, open spaces, and the unique character of Weybridge. A thriving natural environment and one that fosters biodiversity, supports wildlife, and avoids harmful chemicals benefits everyone.

  • The Council must continually review its policies and practices to ensure they align with this vision and to build greater awareness across our borough. Small but meaningful changes, such as switching council planting schemes from annuals to perennials, are already making a difference.

  • The new eco-friendly splash pad in Churchfields Recreation Ground is another step in the right direction — a fun, sustainable community space that shows how thoughtful design can serve both people and our environment.
